Founded by Deborah and Ian Astwood in Providenciales in 2020, Island Villa Architects & Consultants is a three-person practice led by Ian. We connect contemporary needs with the climate, materials, culture, and architectural heritage of the Turks & Caicos Islands. Our core team coordinates a network of qualified local professionals and specialist consultants, bringing architectural design, construction knowledge, and project management together from concept through closeout.

Grand Turk's historic buildings and streetscapes are an important part of the islands' architectural character. Preservation and careful adaptation are central to our practice.
Ian's restoration work includes the Methodist Manse on Front Street and the Roberts House on Duke Street in Grand Turk, where the team documented the failing structure and rebuilt it with a reinforced concrete core and timber cladding to retain its historic appearance. Additional projects include restoration of Brown House (Sunnyside) in Salt Cay with structural repairs and retention of veranda and shutter details, and the Grand Turk Post Office renovation and extension.
Our approach combines structural integrity with respect for heritage details, ensuring these buildings remain functional while preserving their architectural character for future generations.

Ian brings more than 30 years of architectural and public-sector experience to design and project delivery. He holds a Master of Architecture from Florida A&M University, a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Technology, Jamaica, and a Diploma in Architectural Technology. His previous roles include Principal Architect at Lee & Astwood Architects, Deputy Director of Planning, and Permanent Secretary for Physical Planning & Infrastructure.
Deborah directs day-to-day management, human resources, and finance for the practice, ensuring smooth operations and strong client relationships.
Giovanni supports the project management team and is currently developing toward a junior project manager role through hands-on project experience.
